Regnier Studio Fine Art
Michael Regnier
My photography has evolved over the years, guided by a desire to interpret the world around me with the freedom that other interpretive mediums offer. I want to go beyond the reality of the image in the camera. I begin by recording the scene with a high resolution digital camera. Then back in the studio, the real interpretation of the images begin. The images are spontaneous. I apply and re-apply layers of textures and colors until it feels right. In my work, I use contemporary tools and methods to capture hints of the Pictorialist work of the past. I try to convey the character of both the realistic and the abstract by means of light and shade, color and texture all working together. I see images through contemporary eyes. But I’m also interested in the romanticism of their past.
Big Brush Studio Portraits
We create photographic portraits of people and places around the world. Although the end result is difficult to describe in words (“You have to see it to believe it,” we’re often told by clients). We integrate layers of imagery and texture to a photograph for a special portrait. We make it easy for families to “get together”. If you’re all in one place, we will work with you at your home. But, if your family is all over the country, we can shoot individually then creatively “combine”.The final piece can reflect a unified “family portrait”, totally transparent that individual shots were taken at different times and places.
Our portraits are printed on Archival watercolor paper, canvas and mixed media with paper on wood coated with wax. To talk about how to work together to create a lasting photographic memory, please give us a call.

APoDESIGN
Andrea Regnier was born in Prague in Czech Republic. Growing up with parents who are both architects I was naturally drawn to the field, receiving a master degree in architecture in 1998. The architecture theme appears in all of my artwork. I find my inspiration from my passion for traveling which has taken me throughout Europe and America. I take photographs of places and things and then I transfers the images through my own vision and style. My art has a certain degree of abstractness that allows the viewer a place for their own interpretation and experience. Because of my use of multiply layers you can view the image as whole or get lost in a chaotic but magic section of the piece. It is a micro cosmos within a macro cosmos and both parts are irreplaceable and essential. I mix my techniques starting with a drawing and ending with a monoprint. I like the power of simplicity and geometry.
